The typical section of this 100-year-old house formed the base for a fundamental renovation project: Through its location on a dyke, the street level entrance is elevated a full floor above the garden level on the other side of the house.
In this project, the two levels have been combined to form a new spatial and light mezzanine-void composition. The connection between the different programmes has become more direct and the garden is integrated with the house as if it were an extra room. The detailing was engineered as minimalist, showing only the support structure and the glass panes, for maximum connectivity between inside and outside.
