Human daily life is largely formed by natural human borders, which define the speed of our lives and the scale in which we live it. These borders define and dictate the conditions for designers. Architects and urban planners, for instance, are bound by the scale of floor heights, streets and squares that are commonly appreciated as pleasant and that make sense. Meanwhile the speed and scale of life in an flux overdrive due to social media, increased travel and constant availability.
Our lives have sped up immensely. So while a number of conditions have remained constant (our heart rate and eye height, for instance) other factors have developed unimageable fast. How to deal with the double reality of slow consistency and acceleration of life, is the topic of this ongoing research in the office.
