Little C Family house - Rotterdam, NL

Familiehuis Daniel den Hoed is a NGO that provides temporary housing for family members to be close to their next of kin staying for treatment in the nearby Erasmus hospital. The new design and location aims to welcome families, make them feel at home and at ease in a time of distress.

The design provides a sequence that transforms from homely and sheltered collective spaces to private and introvert in the private rooms. The shared facilities include lobby area, a gym and shared kitchen and dining area. Overall a calm and warm interior design divides and connects the program. Main spatial elements are the concrete columns and walls and timber-clad ceilings. The Familiehuis Daniel den Hoed is part of the ensemble of Little C.
