Latrobe Valley, the old powerhouse of Victoria. With coal mining and coal-powered electricity on the decline, the region needs to re-invent itself into the future. A new basis is required for pride and prosperity, a common goal broad enough to be embraced by all involved stakeholders. The New Horizons proposal creates a new Green Tech Campus in the Hazelwood Coal Mine. It will become a knowledge powerhouse, a future brain for the region. In it, the existing knowledge in the region, a huge and ready available potential, can be concentrated and developed further. New knowledge will then be channelled back into the Latrobe Valley and the rest of the world.
